Keith SendallFor most of his life, travel has been Keith Sendall’s passion. It began while studying abroad in Spain and has carried through to the present day, where he uses his time to both travel and to explore his other favorite pursuits, wildlife and photography. In Antarctica, he photographed the resident seals, penguins, and humpback whales. In Madagascar, he captured images of several species of lemurs native only to the island nation.

Keith recalls many unique experiences during his time in Africa, but one of the most impactful was seeing the Great Migration across the Serengeti landscape in Tanzania. He remembers the excitement of witnessing firsthand the wildebeest crossing the Mara River with incredible ferocity to get to the other side. He recalls, “After watching the crossing in so many documentaries on television, it was fascinating to see it actually take place!”

Keith’s experiences around the world influenced his strong belief that conservation matters, and that wildlife need to be protected. Keith is a proud AWF Kilimanjaro Society member—he joined this special group when he created a gift for AWF in his will. In this way, Keith’s love for wildlife and conservation will live on through his legacy.

Asked why he took this important step, Keith says, “When you visit these places and realize just how fragile they are, I sometimes I wonder how these animals survive. The wildlife of Africa is so unique to the continent and so diverse. It deserves our attention, and it needs to be protected. AWF’s approach of investing in local communities is so practical. I chose to leave a bequest for AWF because of how easy it was to add it to my will. It took very little effort.”

A gift in your will, also known as a bequest, is a simple way you can ensure a resilient future for Africa, so people and wildlife will thrive for lifetimes to come. For more information, please contact AWF’s Office of Legacy Giving at 202 939 3333 or legacygifts@awf.org.
